Fantastic food!!!! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back soon!!! The staff was really friendly and welcoming. Best catfish I've ever had hands down and I am very picky about my catfish. The fried chicken ..... Sweet baby Jesus delicious. Everything was great!!! Love you guys keep up the awesome work!!

Simply delicious! The fried chicken was outstanding and the peach cobbler was the best I've ever had. Served it at Thanksgiving to a group of 15 people and everybody was raving about it. The owner definitely takes great care in making sure her customers enjoy their experience. Will be ordering again!

Got the 2 meat, 2 side meal with ribs, meatloaf, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes and it was all amazing. Also got banana pudding that was the best I have ever had

The Candied Yam delightful southern cuisine is my new go to place for delicious home cooked southern food in Grand Rapids. Located on the south west side of town in a strip mall, it is a bit hard to find, but worth the effort! We tried multiple of the meats and sides, and we’re not disappointed in any of them. I personally really enjoyed the ribs.

This place has excellent service and down home cooking. The Soulfood wrap with extra yams is top notch, so much flavor. The meatloaf tastes like your mom made it, tender and saucy. I like it and the pork chop smothered in gravy, but you can get it without. The collards are exceptional. The corn bread is soft with a slight crust and just a little sweet. And the banana pudding is so luxurious and just the right amount of sweetness.

This place is such a fun and cool experience! When I think of a southern soul food restaurant, the first thing all good ones have is an owner who greets you like family. Yvette is exactly that! She welcomed to home and her enthusiasm for what she does was shone through in every detailed description of her menu. Which brings me to the second thing that all good soul food places obviously must have, a great menu. This menu has all the classics you’ll find in the Deep South! Meatloaf, fried chicken, pork chops, catfish (just to name a few) and all the sides! Then greens and cornbread dressing were out of this world! And the 5 and Ten Dollar lunch specials make this place one of the best value buys you can find. Highly recommend for anybody, because it’s the kind of place anybody can enjoy. And you can spend 10 or fifty dollars and you’ll be full and satisfied.

The building is quite cozy and well kept. Our server was very friendly. The total cost for our meal was very reasonable. Everything was excellent. The smothered pork chop was very tender. I would definitely go back.

I had the opportunity to meet Jessica-Ann (owner) when my parents were closing their catering business a few years back- right off the bat I made a mental note that I had to get over here to try the food- between her warm demeanor and contagiously bubbly personality... I knew the food would be good. Unfortunately, life happened and I was delayed but I’m so glad I finally made it over here. The storefront was very clean and well put together. The menu is straight forward and easy to understand with very fair prices. The young woman working the counter was extremely friendly and efficient. I ordered meatloaf, fried chicken, greens, Mac and cheese, and the banana pudding as well as a lemonade. All of it was fantastic. The greens were perfectly flavored, the Mac and cheese was rich and gooey, the meatloaf felt like a home cooked meatloaf, and the chicken was phenomenal. The banana pudding was decent- but I really wish I had gotten there before they ran out of peach cobbler because my friend got that and it was delectable!!! I will be back again and highly suggest everyone support this place!
